STEP-BY-STEP

Import Your
Waypoints.

Pick how you want to export your data from onX. Both methods take about a minute — the phone route is faster, the desktop route is easier if you have hundreds of waypoints.

Open onX Hunt

Launch the onX app and tap the My Content folder icon at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Select

Tap the Select button in the top right. The Select Content panel slides up from the bottom.

Choose Your Waypoints

Tap individual waypoints or hit Select All to grab everything at once.

Export as GPX

Slide the menu left until you see Export. Tap the folder icon, then Save to Files.

Open RidgeLine

Switch to the RidgeLine app. Tap More → Import GPX Waypoints.

Select & Import

Pick the GPX file, preview the import, edit names if needed, then tap Import. RidgeLine auto-detects onX icons and colors.

Open onX Web Map

Go to hunt.onxmaps.com and log in with your onX credentials.

Open My Content

Click My Content from the left menu to see all your waypoints, tracks, and folders.

Open the Three Dots Menu

Click the ... icon next to your content, then click Export.

Select & Export

Select items (or Select All), click Export, choose GPX, then Save. File lands in your Downloads folder.

Import to RidgeLine

Go to getdriftline.com/import, sign in, drag your GPX file in, click Import. Data syncs instantly to your phone.

Will I lose any waypoints during transfer?
No. Every waypoint, track, and folder transfers exactly as exported. RidgeLine's importer auto-detects duplicates so you never end up with copies, and icons and colors map across automatically.
What about photos attached to waypoints?
That's an onX limitation — their GPX exports don't include attached photos. You'll need to re-attach them in RidgeLine after import. Everything else (names, locations, icons, notes) comes across untouched.
Do I need a computer to switch?
Nope. The entire migration can happen on your phone — export from onX, open the file in RidgeLine, import. The desktop route is just easier if you're moving hundreds of waypoints at once.
Does RidgeLine work offline?
Yes. Download maps and topo tiles before heading out. RidgeLine is built for dead zones and optimized for battery life in the backcountry.
What states does RidgeLine cover?
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico — 9 western states, 1,107 hunting units. More are being added based on member requests.
Can I import from other apps too?
Yes. Any app that exports standard GPX files works — Gaia GPS, CalTopo, Avenza, Garmin BaseCamp, Google Earth, and more.
Do I have to cancel onX first?
No. Run both apps side-by-side as long as you want. Most members try RidgeLine for a season before cancelling onX — start the free trial, move your data, hunt with both.
